Items such as video equipment, cameras, radio cassette players, watches, pens, lighters, perfumes and cosmetics are duty-free in Malaysia. Canadian visitors bringing in dutiable goods may have to pay deposit for temporary importation, refundable on departure.

Export of antiques and historical objects is not permitted unless with an export license obtained from the Director General of Museums Malaysia or unless these items were originally imported and declared to Customs at that point.

You are required to declare to Customs or the Plant Quarantine Inspector any plants or parts of plants such as seeds, flowers, fruits, soil samples, cultures of fungi, bacteria and viruses, insects or any other vertebrate or invertebrate animal, that is in your possession.
Visitors staying for a minimum of 72 hours are permitted personal duty-free allowance of:
200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 225 gm tobacco
1 bottle (1 litre) of liquor or wine
Cosmetics, perfumes, clothes etc. for personal use
Gifts and souvenirs worth not more than RM200.00
